The article continues the previous work of the author, published in the same publicationin 2012. The next stage of creative biography of a prominent Ukrainian legal scholar, Professor O. M. Gulyayev, connected primarily with his work at Kyiv St. Volodymyr University, is reviewed. The lecturing activity of the lawyer is thoroughly studied, namely the information about the courses that he taught, amount of the workload, and the scientific literature he recommended to the students, is given. Some data about his work at the public office of the head of the Professorial disciplinary tribunal and about the participation at Kyiv legal society that was active on the base of the university is presented.

Attention is drawn to a unique combination of the lawyer’s work both at the university and at Kyiv district court, and later – at Kyiv court chamber. The participation of O. M. Gulyayev at the formation of Kyiv Commercial Institute is highlighted. His scientific achievements of 1895–1908 are analyzed. Namely, the attention is focused at the works dedicated to the challenges of the new codification of civil legislation and to the “peasant question”. It is emphasized that the scientist took a progressive stand, aspired to put an end to the class marginalization of peasants and to the institutions that supported it, namely to volost peasant courts. The conclusion about the idea of unification of civil law as the core idea for this period of the scientist’s work was made.
